I 100% recommend never coming to this facility. My husband has had 8 hospitalizations. When I tried telling the doctor his real diagnosis, I was dismissed repeatedly. This most recent admission, they diagnosed him with what I said was going on the whole time. They NEVER got his medications into therapeutic levels. And even though he has been stable now during this admission, they have been holding him against his will for over a week and will do absolutely nothing about it. They simply say that when the doctor wants, he will sign the discharge papers. I have been lied to repeatedly for 4 weeks. I have been treated rudely. They made a mistake on my husband\'s release of information making it where they would not speak to me yet some other patient had their privacy removed by the mistake. So much more that I cannot even begin to explain. DO NOT GO HERE.

I was brought to Laurelwood after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. Individual care was lacking and one employee was provoking and combative. The nurses were distant but nice. I was admitted around 5 times for a week at a time over a summer. I should have not been released while still dealing with my delusions that were causing me to attempt suicide.

I went here the first time after a suicide attempt and it was completely and udderly a joke. Yeah I talked to a doctor alright, and a therapist and they seem to think I was all fine and dandy. I was discharged and came back that night cause they didn't fully explain what I was going through with my guardian and totally neglected my specific situations and problems. In turn I got so overwhelmed that I had a nervous breakdown and the police was called out, I was taken back to the ER and was re-admitted because of far worse suicidal thoughts then before I was firstly admitted. Once I got there the staff that was fairly nice to me the first time was now rude and annoyed I was back, it only made me feel worse. When I was woken up, I was segregated and put on full restriction. I couldn't talk to anyone, I couldn't choose what I ate, the only time I had any other human contact was my therapist and groups. And yet again it was the same as before, I'm sitting here feeling like I'm in prison for mental health issues that I couldn't control and didn't know how to cope with effectively cause they're too blinded by their paychecks to do their job and help me and properly diagnosis me. I was yet again discharged later that day, I decided enough was enough, so I decided to go to an actual DECENT psychiatrist and I was diagnosed with major depression with psychotic features, ADHD/add, and ODD. Which may I remind you that the doctors at laurelwood thought I was fine and dandy just going through a little teenage depression. so after I was treated like that at laurelwood psychiatric hospital I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVER! You'll only come out with more problems then you started with.

I was here many years ago & it was top notch help. Groups & therapy all day every day. I was there 2 wks. I recently went back & it was a joke! Maybe 2 groups a day, focused on addiction, which I don\'t have. Seemingly led by students. They kept me 3 days, their norm now. I was shocked. Employees are just there for a check & it shows. No one can get better in 3-5 days. It\'s a glorified jail. They keep you there & feed you & that\'s about it. I\'d never recommend this place to anyone who really needed help. Don\'t know if Obamacare destroyed it or what, but it\'s pathetic now. Go elsewhere if you need help! You won\'t get it there!
