I have witnessed the love and care that the staff give to the residents here. 24/7 the owner/counselor is available to pull men from the dregs of addiction, some who have used only hours before. The prayers and the support and the structure provided to these men is truly a "wrap around service" intended to heal the whole individual.

My son has been living at Demascus since June of 2016. He was released from jail to go there and learn to think and behave in a more productive manner. We are very pleased with his care and find one of the male staff members very knowledgeable and compassionate.

I am a former resident of this program, now 4 years sober, and was surprised to see such a negative review of this program. One of the directors (TS), who is no longer associated with the program, had a tendency to use fear and vey unusual consequences as a means of behavioral modification. I admit, I didn\'t/don\'t agree with most of those techniques for a person who has already suffered severe trauma as a result of years of substance abuse/addiction, but we are talking about very unhealthy individuals who arrive to treatment with nothing but problems, poor coping skills, family issues, legal issues and low-self esteem. It doesn\'t feel good to give up the one thing that provided comfort/relief and learn how to live sober. That\'s why the statistics for long-term recovery are so low. I can say in all honesty that the program provided EVERYTHING I needed to leave and stay sober. Most places, and I have \"unsuccessfully\" attended many of them myself, provide a bed and minimal structure. Damascus provided me with structure, accountability, workbook material, relapse prevention, 12 step support and a safe, comfortable environment to learn how to live, work and thrive as a sober member of my society. It\'s too bad some disgruntled former residents who were unwilling to put forth honesty, hard work, and behavior modification into action. I still maintain friendships with many sober brothers in recovery who had the same experience I did. Thanks staff!

So let\'s explain Damascus house \"rehab\". Much of what you see on their website is an out right lie. Two of the staff members have such a hard time keeping their clients inside their \"CBT\" program because it\'s not focused on recovery or helping one another through addiction at all. Your day is tragic at Damascus. 545 wake up to start walking all around statesboro by yourself for weeks for 8 hours a day. You receive one meal once you are home, so I don\'t know where the heck they get off saying they feed you 3 times a day. They sell this as a 6-9 month program until you are there and can find a way to get you mandated by showing up at court dates and such. It\'s actually a program of completion, which is actually 15-24 months to them. They have their residents working full time to pay 200 dollars a week to only have a pillow at night. Their form of counseling is actually just sitting in a hot warehouse in a button down and tie for 8 hours every Friday night in a session they refer to as POP. I strongly advise anyone looking into this to not be fooled by them.
