Learn More About Newport Academy

Facility Highlights
  • Nationally Accredited Academics
While patients may fall behind in their academics at other treatment centers, Newport Academy, as part of our treatment model, ensures that they not only stay on track but also experience academic engagement and progress in our accredited program, in some cases for the first time. Our whole-person approach to mental healthcare encompasses our philosophy of education, which focuses on students’ strengths and talents while supporting them to regain lost ground. As our clients experience reductions in depression and anxiety symptoms, they also move forward in their academic engagement and study skills, while earning credits toward graduation. We maintain a high ratio of staff to students, with small groups and individualized tutoring provided by our highly trained and licensed teachers and tutors, most with advanced degrees. When they return to their home schools, Newport alumni remain on track with their grade level, curriculum, and credits, and—just as important—feel more prepared, organized, and excited about learning
  • Full Continuum of Care
We provide a full continuum of care at locations around the country, including residential treatment centers; a full suite of outpatient programming, with Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and outpatient services with a flexible number of days per week; telehealth; and alumni programming. All of our programs have received accreditation from the Joint Commission for Behavioral Healthcare, the nation’s most respected healthcare accreditation body. Our continuing care program provides ongoing support through virtual sessions, and our robust Alumni department keeps former clients connected through online and in-person events and support groups. Whether an adolescent needs a higher level of care, is stepping down from residential care and needs continued structure and community in our Partial Hospitalization Program, or needs several days per week of after-school support through our outpatient services option, our range of programming meets each young person and family where they are.

Areas of Specialization
  • Comprehensive Care for Adolescents and Families at Our Minnesota Teen Mental Health Treatment Center
Newport Academy’s residential substance abuse and mental health treatment center for teens in Minnesota is helping to address the gap in mental healthcare in this region. We help teens find long-term healing through integrated, evidence-based care and alumni programming post-discharge to support continued recovery. Our model of care addresses the trauma that often lies at the root of teen anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, and other mental health disorders. Each teen’s individualized treatment plan incorporates teenage therapy and counseling services, and parents participate in family therapy and parent support groups. Both young people and parents gain tools for better communication and enhanced family harmony, so teens can turn to family for support when they are distress or Our licensed clinicians specialize in treating mental health and substance use disorders through proven modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EFT, and EMDR. Our clinicians use the groundbreaking Attachment-Based Family Therapy model to repair parent-child relationships, an essential component of sustainable recovery.
Financing Available
  • The cost of treatment is one of the biggest obstacles in accessing care—and it doesn’t have to be. Many families don’t seek treatment because they don’t realize that affordable mental healthcare is an option. As recently as 20 years ago, clients were forced to pay out of pocket for mental health and substance abuse treatment. Today, many insurance payers cover outpatient and residential treatment programs, and they are much more willing to provide coverage when they know a program offers safe, effective, and clinically driven treatment. To support families in their efforts to access quality adolescent treatment, Newport Academy works with leading providers of healthcare insurance to provide financing options. We have built collaborative relationships with a wide range of healthcare payers, and are adding new In-Network partners on an ongoing basis. In addition, we excel in negotiating Single Case Agreements to allow coverage by out-of-network insurers. Our goal is to optimize the benefit coverage for families who are seeking affordable residential treatment or outpatient care.
